The subject bird belongs on the left, with each generation moving to the right. The sire's side normally sits above the dam's side. Every ancestor box should use the bird's ring number first, then optional name, strain, colour, and achievements.

The safest workflow is to add each bird as its own record and link parents by selecting existing records. That prevents the same ancestor from being typed ten different ways across ten pedigrees.

What buyers expect on the certificate

• The bird's ring number, year, sex, colour, strain, and photo.
• Four or five generations of ancestors where known.
• Specific race or breeding achievements, not vague claims.
• Your loft name and contact details.
• A clean PDF layout that can be printed or shared without editing.

Blank ancestor boxes are acceptable when the record is unknown. Invented ancestors damage trust far more than an honest gap.
